Werewolf Rules
The Mostly Finalized Rules for the Werewolf Game at Madness

A MESSAGE FOR ALL BEFORE EXPLAINING THE GAME: The form of this game is really just an adaptation of the age old game of Tag with one significant twist. The person, or in this case persons, who is IT needs to maintain their anonymity to win. This game will NOT be successful and fun if those who are caught, divulge who their assailant was until their assailant is out of the game or the game is over and a winner has been determined. If you choose to be a victim please play the game honorably and properly. Similarly, any person who is a werewolf needs to be certain to take proper care not to offend, hurt, or otherwise annoy Victims or Non Players. THIS MEANS DO NOTHING THAT WOULD SOLICIT THE TERM, "WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING SO STUPID?", FROM YOUR MOTHER!!

SETTING UP THE GAME:

1. The game needs a healthy supply of "Victims". Therefore, anyone entering the event may sign up to be a Victim. Simply request a victim token at the Troll booth. The victims are, simply, potential meals for the werewolves. The victim token needs to be worn about the neck so that the Werewolves can easily identify their victims. If you are not wearing your token you are not playing. LET ME REITERATE TO ALL WEREWOLVES, IF THERE IS NO TOKEN ON THE NECK, THEN THERE IS NO VICTIM.

2. There will be fifteen (15) Werewolves in and amongst the populous of Madness. These Werewolves will be known to no one except the person running the game. The Werewolves will have a numbered token made of fur which must be shown to the victim when an "attack" takes place. (A sample Werewolf token will be at registration so that everyone can familiarize themselves with what it looks like) Be warned, a Victim may also be a Werewolf. Werewolf tokens will be handed out at random during registration. If you wish to be a Werewolf register early and be lucky.

PLAYING THE GAME:

1. On each night the game is played, Werewolves may begin harvesting "victims" once the full moon is clearly visible in the night sky.

2. To "attack" a Victim a werewolf must declare themselves to the victim by way of showing their piece, (game piece that is), and request the victims piece, (GAME PIECE!). The Werewolf must take care to insure that this transaction is NOT witnessed by others. If someone, player or non player alike, does see such an event, they are encouraged to tattle on the Werewolf to anyone who'll listen. Victims please note, if you are the one being attacked, say nothing during the handing over of the game piece, however if you see others being attacked feel free to cry out.

3. Upon handing over their game token to their attacker, a victim may make one (1) cry out announcing their death to the populace. THIS RULE WILL BE SUSPENDED ONCE QUIET HOURS TAKE AFFECT. IF YOU PLAN ON DYING LOUDLY DO SO EARLY IN THE GAME. The reason for this is to give the victims the opportunity to help in the capture of their attacker, however, The victims MAY NOT declare the identity of the werewolf in their cry or to anyone else after their demise. VICTIMS ARE SWORN TO SECRECY!

4. If a person is playing BOTH a "Victim" and a "Werewolf" and a werewolf attacks them do to their "Victim" status then they are dead. Period. The werewolf that attacks them gets that victims 1 token. The tokens that the player may have attained as a werewolf are his. (This is not a game of Highlander, though....Hmmmm... *A twinkle in the game writers eye*)

5. Should the werewolf be discovered by others while "killing" his victim, or is suspected of being a werewolf and the populace decides to "kill" him. Then he is attacked by the mob and killed (His game piece, along with each of the pieces of his victims, is taken to troll for them to sort out his final score.) For a mob to "kill" a suspected Werewolf all they need to do is bring the suspected werewolf before the person running the game. (Werewolves, if a mob decides you should be "killed" go peacefully please. See the above remark about what your mother would say.)

6. Each victim will be given the opportunity to find one of two special items with which to defend themselves against the attack of a Werewolf. To find these items one needs only to finish the quest that will take place at Madness. Should a werewolf's intended victim have one of these items from the quest then the werewolf is killed. (His game piece, along with each of the pieces of his victims, is taken to troll for them to sort out his final score.)

TO WIN THE GAME:

Winning the game is simple. The werewolf that amasses the most victims wins. All werewolves that have not been killed, must take their tokens to the Troll the next morning to allow for tallying of the score. Additionally, a 3 point bonus is given to all werewolves go make it through the night "undiscovered."

A FINAL NOTE The more the general populace buys into the concept that there are Werewolves afoot, the more fun this game will be for everyone, player and non player alike. Think of it as one of those Tony and Tina's wedding kind of things where the more interaction by the audience, the more interesting it is. Feel free to form into "angry mobs" to hunt down the werewolves, or if you're a werewolf, to come up with interesting ways to get your victims, just remember the part about your mother and not doing anything stupid.
