Madness ASXLII Post Event Wrap Up! |
|
The good people of Westermark invited their friends and neighbors to
join them in a medieval celebration of the summer sun with a tropical
twist! The site at Ed Levin
park was gorgeous and the weather was just about perfect.
Saturdays revelries included fighting, several contests, and
absolutely everyone got leid!
When the dust had settled after the fighting, Lord Baccus Kaloethes
stood triumphant as da new Thug of the Westermark, Duke Uther Shamman
der Hund as the Baroness’ Rapier Champion, and Sir Geoffrey Mathias was
our new Shepherd.
The brewing contest had an astonishing number of entries and the
competition was fierce. The
panels of judges awarded first place in the category of “cordials and
infusions” to Ash, Oak & Thorn for their sinfully delicious Apple Piety
cordial. First place in the
“Brews without hops” category went to a wonderfully fizzy and refreshing
Mango Small Meade by Bedlam Brews.
First place in the “Brews with hops” category went to a fabulous
Double Boch by our new Thugette, Lady Mairsil inghean Aindriasa. An
honorable mention in t
Hilary, newly returned to the bosom of the SCA after a LONG absence,
made her presence known by winning the “Carve a root vegetable into a
likeness of the Baron” contest as well as the Hawaiian print garb
competition. Honorable
mentions went to Ranger Connie for her carving contest entry, and to Jen
and Kasey for their eye-popping outfits.
The cooking competition was won by House Bedlam with their “Bad
Boy [faux] Poi”, a delightfully alcoholic and desserty concoction served
during the Luau potluck.
House Bedlam also made their presence known with a presentation of the
most decadently delicious truffles to her Highness Princess Muirgheal
and her Excellency Baroness Linda.
The evening’s musical performances resulted in the crowning of
Baron Rodrigo as our new Markee. Her Highness, Princess Muirgheal of the Mists, was kind enough to grace our little event with her radiant presence and was more than generous with her gifts to the populace of our poor Barony. In her name, and that of Prince Leon, she bestowed Awards of Arms upon: Beatrice
d'Burgogne, Her Highness also awarded the Corolla Aulica to: Acelin
de Alsop The Corolla Vitae was awarded to: Ida
Kneipenwirten.
Alas, not everyone was entirely well behaved at the event and a few
miscreants had warrants of arrest sworn against them.

Sunday began with the Baroness’ Coffee Klatch which eventually segued
into morning court. Rob of
Westermark distinguished himself with a particularly well thrown brick
in the Numinorian brick throwing competition and the beer for the
Fizzball was particularly fizzy resulting in some truly spectacular
displays. The Pie the Baron
was particularly entertaining. T
