Full Moon Madness: August 3-5, 2001
The Barony celebrated Madness at Coyote Lake County Park by the light of a full moon! We Howled, danced, and hit each
other! Occasionally, all at once! All a true western Lunatic could possibly have needed: lunacy presented by experts, for
experts, and lots of chances for purely metaphorical injuries!!
There were contests (physical and mental), games (physical and mental), singing (physical and mental), talking (probably
about overused jokes in Page copy), and story telling enough for all...but you had to watch out for the werewolves ... (no,
not the kind who wear black and write poems in gaming magazines) Werewolves? There wolves. There castle. There Barony...
The event was coordinated by Baron Corywn da Costa. Staff included: Brewocrat (runs brew contest) - George,
Potluckocrat (organizes the potluck dinner) - Evaine, Contestocrat (organizes the contests/prizes) - Flidais and Cataline,
Questocrat (organizes the quest) - Iduna, Lycanthrocrat (organizes the werewolf game) - Wyrm, Privicrat (keeps the privies
stocked) - Katherine, Tokenocrats (makes tokens) - Micheila, Iduna, Cataline, and Katherine, Herald (to do announcements) -
Harold, Randel, Thyri, and Veniamin.
Activities included:
Potluck Feast: Which was a roaring success accompanied by more food than all of us could ever hope to eat.
Quest for the 7 Deadly Virtues: Which was won by Fiore, with second place going to Kellyn Firesinger.
Buzkashi: Won by Colin MacLear who chose to take and clean the sheep...rather than the naBaron!
Thug Competition: Won by Rouland Campion fighting for his Lady Flidais
Immortals Tourney: Won by Colin
Troll melee: Won by Colin and Allen
Markee Competition: Won by Sir John Theophilous for his scary redition of 'The Three Horrible Words....
face...face...face.... The Werewolf Game: (explanations posted
here)
Won by: Emma Westbrook of House Luminous in Cynagua, with a good showing by our very own Baron Corwyn...
who managed to take out most of his own court before being caught!
Carving a potato to look like the Baron contest: Won with an incredible work in sweet potato by Marli.
Bonfire on the Eric, which turned into our Bardic circle.
Tablero/Mahjong/Wesermarkopoly/etc.: where everyone won...but we must give honorable mention to Bear...who kicked
all our a***s!
Fizzball - which was incredible, especially when the Rangers came by and just looked on bemusedly.

Westermark Auction: September 30, 2001
People from across the Known World came to The Kingdom of the West's Crown Tourney, and bid upon the wonderful items
the populace of the Barony of the Westermark donated for the auction. Bidding was fiercest on the heraldic cloak to be made
by Baroness Athelesia, but we all knew it would be. There was a wonderful scramble at the very end of the evening, as people
came over to make sure theirs was the highest bid. We managed to raise enough money to pay for our upcoming feast, and nobody
could have asked for more than that!
Sorry, no available photos for this event!

InTentse War - November 17, 2001
The Province of Southern Shores and the Barony of the Westermark did battle! Each used everything in their power to
prove their pavilion was the virtuous and innocent one... and the other the guilty party!
At Penitencia Creek County Park the two groups gathered, each fought and cooked, and brewed with all their might...
and in the end it was called a draw! (as all wars around here are)
All proceeds from the event (~$1,000!) were donated to a disaster relief fund for the September 11th attack.
The Westermark's annual auction was held, and many folk were able to take home treasures of every sort!
Activities/war points were: Cooking, Lemonade, Cookies, Cordials, and Russians.
Torses went to: Thorfin Magneson and Brand McClellan for prowess on the field, Uther's unit (The Spartans) for being
a strong unit, Geoffrey Scott for taping that stupid stuffed duck (seagull) to his helm (lunacy).
We were slaughtered on the field. We won a single point at St. Colin's Testicle, and a single open-field battle. We were
outnumbered for at least some of the scenarios (especially the early ones), and had a great deal of difficulty handling
Uther and his men (hence the torse).
Muirenn won the "Kick Ass Can O' Mickeys" award for her insane dedication to getting hammered (by fighters,
not alcohol) for the barony....
Unlike most November days, this one turned out to be bright and sunny! The lemonade (and water, and gatorade) were
greatly appreciated by the huge numbers of fighters, and visitors to our great war!
We also held an Auction at the InTentse War! Here's a list of what was offered:
Made-to-order Cotehardie (either male or female), cloth not included; Nice brown wool cloak with an "unusual" lining;
Gypsy costumes; Large assortment of belts and leather girdles; Nice jewelery box; One burner small portable propane
stove/heater; Nice "picnic" style basket-empty; Canvas sunshade in need of a bit of repair work; Two person inflatable
boat with oars; Used heater shield in good condition; Small plastic tool box; Set of 3 brand new small tables with removable
legs suitable for pavillion/sunshade use; Lots of small misc mish-mosh(notebooks, bracelets,fabric, etc); Exercise equipment;
Hand made twisted wire jewelry; Foot massages/scrubs; Baked goods in many varieties; RPGs; Might & Magic VI (plus
hintbook); Might & Magic VII (plus hintbook); M&MVII (plus hintbook); Shannara (plus hintbook); Quest for Glory V
"Quest for Dragonfire"; and Ripper.
The Autocrat was Eliana Fraser

Feast of Fools, April 20, 2002
The Barony of the Westermark was graced by the attendance of Their Highnesses, the Prince and Princess of the Mists, Richard and Elizabeth as we
celebrated All Fools Day at the Carden El Encanto School Multi-purpose Room. The April world was upside down!
Things were not what they seemed. Elegant order was turned topsy turvy when the chair of honor was reserved for the
jester. This was a splendid celebration of the ridiculous as our cooks delighted tastebuds, our entertainers delighted
other senses, and we crowned our King of Fools, Wyrm! Wyrm was graciously gifted with an amazing Fool's outfit designed and created by our lovely Aurelia d'Ouessant!
The Autocrat was Juliana of Emerald Waters, Head Cook was Flidais ni Eitegen.
Here is a brief description of the different roles held at All Fools Day:
Surveyor of Cermonies: Carries a very large gold key attached to a heavy chain around his neck. He welcomes
guests with a hearty "Wassail" (Welcome! Good cheer, dear friends!)
"Surveyor's Song:
Here we go a wassailing among the leaves so green
Here we go a wandering so fair to be seen
Love and joy come to you
And to our wassail too;
And god send us a happy New Year!
The Surveyor presents the salt to the high table. The salt is in an elaborate extravagantly shaped salt container.
Almoner: Carries a large alms dish to collect and then dispense food to the poor.
Butler: George, carries a large key to the wine cellar, He is in charge of the wine and other drinks.
Carver: Cuts the meat into portions. The Carvers movements should be as graceful as a dancer's. Specially
bladed and handled knives are held in proper finger positions for specific cuttings.
Chief Cook: Flidais, wears a long handled tasting spoon like a medallion from a heavy chain. She tests foods' quality
and excellence by tasting. She also carries a large feather used as a brush for food painting.
Cup Bearer: Evaine, carries a tasting cup and must test the wine before the guests partake.
Dresser: Sally carries tweezers or scissors to arrange food on the serving platters.
Juggler: Carries balls, daggers, and rings to juggle with.
Laverer: Muireen, wears a long scarflike towel around her neck, she helps each guest wash their hands with spiced
and herbed warm water, which is poared from a pitcher called an aquamanile into a bowl. The bowl is usually shaped like a
lion or dragon or wolf or gryphon whos mouth is the water spout.
Lord of Misrule, Motley, and Widdershins: Wyrm, dressed in a fools costume of many colors, he wears a long
floppy pointed hat with bells at its tip. He carries a sceptor topped with a small head, which also wears a belled fool's cap.
Magician: Juan Santiago, dressed in black wearing a tall pointed hat adorned with figures of stars and the moon.
He snatches flames from the air, he discovers butterflies in his sleeve, he makes the dog sing, a chained lock springs
apart at his touch, and he saws a beautiful woman in two.
Master of the Venerie: Iduna, carries a hunting horn and presents important game animals as hunting trophies
Mime: Wears a mask and performs silently.
Musicians: The West Kingdom Choir, either walk in procession preceeding the servitors, or they play from a special
musicians gallery. Music is played not only between but during courses.
Page(s): Maximillion, wears a small cap with feathers and directs guests to the tables, and refill cups.
Pantler: Wears a long fringed fabric on his shoulder called a portpayne, for ceremonially carrying loaves. The
Pantler cuts the upper crust from a round delicately spiced beautifully coloured loaf. Utilizing special knives the Pantler
horizontally cuts the top of the bread to present it to the most honoured guest.
Patisser: Carries an icing "comb" and makes and decorates the pastries.
Quistron: Turns the spits for roasting, wears heavy gloves.
Rotisser: Holds long needles and designs prepares, and presents roasted food.
Saucer: Carries a stirring spoon and prepares the sauces and glazes.
