| The Barony of the Westermark | |

The Barony of the Westermark is a small branch of the Society of Creative Anachronism ("SCA") located in San Mateo County, California, Kingdom of the West, Principality of the Mists. The Kingdom of the West, the first of 18 kingdoms, encompasses many branches. These branches are called either principalities, marches, baronies, provinces, shires, or cantons and are based on size and membership. The Westermark is located within the Principality of the Mists. The SCA is a non-profit educational organization devoted to the research and recreation of pre-seventeenth century Middle Ages. This definition includes European society prior to the 1600s, and is purposefully a broad definition. In the SCA you can do almost anything! Activities range from heavy weapons fighting, medieval arts (spinning, weaving, illumination) and sciences (armoring, fletching, carpentry), to medieval and belly dancing.
